When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay or Google Pay, the system does not store or transmit the actual card number. Instead, it generates a Device Account Number (DAN) (also known as a Virtual Account Number in Google Pay).
This number is unique to your device and is different from your physical card number for security reasons.
Where to Find the Device Account Number in Apple Pay and Google Pay:
- Apple Pay (iPhone & Apple Watch)
- Open the Wallet app.
- Select the card.
- Tap the three dots (•••) in the top right corner.
- Scroll down to find the Device Account Number.
- Google Pay (Android)
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- Select the card.
- Tap Details or Virtual Account Number (varies by version).
- The last four digits of the virtual card number will be displayed.
